I had my puppy with me and the environment was very good for her to explore.Beautiful park, especially the light house hike but not enough parking, at all. Camper Cabins. While temps outside the park were in the mid-90s, Choptank had a great amount of trees to help reduce the temps making it enjoyable. There have been quite a few improvements over the years with adding newer cabins, keeping the cabins clean and the bathhouses have been rebuilt, updated and kept in very good condition.Been coming here camping and fishing for over 10 years.

It's also dog friendly and we enjoy seeing other people bring their dogs. This is a beautiful park, but despite it's beauty I wish there were some things I knew before my trip.Just returned from camping in the Choptank loop and I think I managed to camp during the hottest summers on record.
Always a great experience.
It take about an hour to get there from my home just south of Philadelphia, right now 95. $3 person in state, $5 person out of state on holidays or weekends. I was lucky to catch site of the raptors and deer. We just got a camper, and of course want to take it out on the regular for a few long weekends, at least once per month. The lighthouse is beautiful and the views are amazing from around it but it is a mile walk to get to it, so you might want to consider that if you have little ones. In the late summer, the paths are lined with fragrantWhen in North East, you must go visit the Light HouseIf you visit North East, MD you should take some time to go visit the North East Light House. Unlike most state parks, which close for the winter and re-open around April, Elk Neck keeps one camping loop open (the North East loop) with a fully functioning communal bathroom that has hot showers and flushing toilets and appears to be heated, since it was nice and toasty in the cold evening. Looks great and clean and cabins are available (but are likely booked well in advance).
She lives in Delaware and frequents the place quite a bit. Nice playground and picnic area by the beach but no trash cans anywhere. Reservations are Recommended.
I and my children also sustained bites.
They started again at 5:30Our family and friends have camped on tent sites and cabins here for many years. Breathtaking views of the Chesapeke peeking over the cliffs. Came here about a month ago and it was a little underwhelming. Breathtaking views of the Chesapeke peeking over the cliffs. We saw deer, fish jumping in the bay, cardinals, bald eagles, turkey vultures, and tons of cool bugs like orb weavers. We stayed for a weekend in the miles loop and we had a great time!
We went on Labor Day weekend and the staff made special accommodations for us since they were booked (they opened up the youth area and converted it to camping spaces and allowed us to camp for 1 night).Ohh the great outdoors! The swim area is okay but worth it for the kids becauseWonderful hiking to the Turkey Point Lighthouse. The cabin loop area looks out on the lake from a height above the water so the lake fills the horizon visually.
We thought that was a little weird.Beautiful park, helpful staff, clean restrooms, and best of all- they let you buy wood through the "honor system" after hours. Hat and bug repellent probably a good idea, although bugs/mosquitos were not a problem when we hiked this yesterday. Just one spot by the beach was full of deep mud when we went, no way around it. (Our second excursion). We went on labor day weekend....actually just got back, our over all opinion i think is altered due to the heat and humidity was so insane and the fact that there was no place to swim or cool down. Cabins at Elk Neck State Park do not have bathrooms. Another beautiful land that is being ruined by the National Park Service.I went camping a lot as a child and now I would like to introduce my child to it.
