It increased the difficulty a little having to remember what potions I had equipped and having to check the map on occasion, but it was totally worth the extra effort. I do enjoy some of the side-quests, like how a farmer was cursed and got all his fellow villagers turned into a pigs.
Thanks for your insights!I have to thank you for being so generous with your time and effort to comment so thoroughly on my review.
One of the poster children for production values over gameplay.
The game strangely turns into a “collect people and things for the battle” mixed with nice and warm moments you get with Ciri, but all this bunch of new characters doesn’t of course have the time to be properly introduced to the player, since we’re near the ending of the game.
The Witcher 3 is overrated. I personally thought Undertale was overrated and had a really obnoxious community, but I don't really interact with them so who cares. I don't know if I'd say it is overrated, but I didn't enjoy my time with The Witcher 3 all that much. Not being a fan of open world games, and hearing from vocal fans that "even people who don't like open world games will like this game"... didn't help matters. Some gamers just need to be humble and acknowledge a game can be fundamentally solid but isn't their cup of teaPeople just don't appreciate the nuance that Witcher 3 has. And after reading your post I suddenly recognize what I didn’t like about the main-story … the mixture of the politics (I really don’t care about that bit at all! Like most protagonists in most games, Geralt is a power fantasy. However, there is definitely a good argument to be made that what works for TV shows and novels doesn’t work for a game.
The battle system didn't click with me either. Its merits are slightly exaggerated and its flaws downplayed, but that hot take is the definition of ‘ow the edge’No, that's probably Breath of the Wild. Thing is, we all are so passionate about our interests that we tend to defend them in arguments like this one here.
You’re alone in the world that wants to kill you.

-The combat serves well enough to move the game. Near zero draw for me when it comes to the main story; the material would suggest it could be gripping, but I am not gripped.Just to touch on it, combat is serviceable, but not really engaging and I’m not a huge fan of the character development system. Agree to disagree. In short, they are about exercising freedom within the confines determined by the developer. As for the social realism storylines, I just struggle with the idea of combining this particular type of storytelling with the fantasy genre. LMAO. I was about to make a post similar to this, honestly. I simply hadn’t seen it. I would probably have continued playing if the game had been, you know… fun.On top of that, leveling up is a gruelingly slow process, even early on. The books follow the story of the main character, Geralt a mutated human who slays monsters. With The Witcher 3 there was totally no sense of improvement. That feeling of mastery is truly unique and what makes me coming back to these kind of games– customisation: you can fully customize your character, how you look in almost every detail (jawbones, chin length and such… it’s really absurd)… in contrast to the Witcher series ^^– combat: the combat is really impactful. I think I liked the first games combat the most. Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. When you take him to the dwarf the NPC interacts with his daughter and says "I'll see you soon" etc. Because BOTW highlights the shortcomings in Witcher 3 so well imo. I know DarkSouls3 has some references to Dark Souls 1, but I have no idea how deep they are. And here I am again, starting with a positive point and then turning it into a criticism I think you’re right, I should just go all the way I completely agree with you about the grimdork business. The idea behind this blog is just that: to express some honest opinions on movies and games that are really different from the zeitgeist Couldn’t agree with you more – and like the others, I thought it was just me.
